Well, thank you, everybody. there, there's a parable, a African parable that talks about, "Until the tale of the hunt is told by the lion, the story of the hunt will always benefit the hunter." And so it's important for us to begin telling our stories, particularly in public health, when we know that, when our best work is done, nothing happens. And when something bad happens, and we engage, we often don't tell our You know, toot our own horn and take credit for it. and yet, public health has been, responsible for, most of the longevity we've had, in certainly my lifetime.
And here at APHA's annual 2025 meeting, I'm here really to help Black Doctor kick off this new movement. So APHA is also about movements, a generational health movement. You know, every morning I get up, and I, A, I get up, I wake up, I realize I'm above ground, and then when I stand up, I realize I'm up. And the goal, of course, in life is to live as long as you can, as well as you can, and have a short and glorious ending. And so I think that this concept of generational health is in line with that concept of having a long, healthy life, and there are many things we can do to do that.
That includes eating better, getting down to the ideal body weight, engaging in a social conversation so that you're not socially isolated. But it also means doing prevention, screenings, et cetera, and working across partnerships. And so I'm pleased that APHA, is able to sponsor and work with blackdoctor, dot org, because it's about doing the work, and I've had an opportunity to work in two of the programs that they've had, and I've just been absolutely amazed, at this being an organization that achieves results.
Results is a key word here, and so I'm excited about this. I'm glad to be here, and I'm just hoping that you will also help engage with them because the messages they're going to give you today, I think, are extremely important to the health and well-being of people of color, of the underserved, and folks that need our support. So with that, I'm going to ask this- these kind gentlemen over here to roll the video, and we're off to the races. Have a great day!
