Your Health Leaders Highlight AI-Driven Quality Innovation at NCQA Health Innovation Summit

December 15, 2025 | Columbia, SC

Ericka Bauman, Director of Quality Assurance, and Melissa May-Engle, VP of Quality, at Your Health, joined Dr. Michael Barr, former Executive Vice President, at the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Health Innovation Summit, at the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center, San Diego.

Dr. Barr and Ms. Bauman shared how Your Health successfully adapted Navina’s innovative artificial intelligence (AI) technology to transform quality workflows. The organization’s approach provides real-time visibility into quality metrics and identifies actionable opportunities to close care gaps. This surfaced critical payer–provider alignment challenges with meaningful financial implications, and facilitated Your Health to strengthen quality performance and regulatory compliance.

Close collaboration between provider organizations and health plans is essential to success in value-based care, yet is often constrained by data silos, delayed reporting, and misaligned incentives. In his presentation, Dr. Barr examined the dynamic relationship between payers and providers and emphasized the importance of timely, trustworthy, data-powered insights. He highlighted how responsible AI and operational clarity can help prevent financial losses while generating a positive Return on Quality (ROQ) through proactive, data-informed collaboration. Your Health’s optimization of the Navina platform improved provider confidence through transparency and data-driven clarity by validating quality compliance and more accurately capturing the clinical complexity of its patient population. Your Health continues to strengthen its population health program and advance its commitment to high-quality, value-based care.

Your Health Team Attends National Patient Experience Symposium — Bringing Inspiration Home

Members of the Your Health Patient Experience Team recently attended the Patient Experience Symposium in Boston — a nationally recognized gathering of clinicians, executives, and innovators focused on advancing the human side of healthcare.

Throughout the conference, one theme echoed across every session: clinical excellence and human connection are not competing priorities — they’re inseparable. Every interaction, every moment of compassion, contributes to trust, adherence, and outcomes.

The symposium opened with Alisahah J. Jackson, MD, President of the Lloyd H. Dean Institute for Humankindness at CommonSpirit Health, who challenged us to consider compassion as a measurable, evidence-based component of care. “It takes only 40 seconds to show compassion,” she said — forty seconds that can profoundly influence a patient’s trust and willingness to engage in their care plan.

Mark E. Manigan, Esq., President and CEO of RWJBarnabas Health, and Dwight McBee, MBA, BSN, RN, CPX, Chief Experience Officer, shared their approach to reaching underserved and rural patients through a Community Health Worker (CHW) model — a reminder that health equity begins with accessibility and authentic relationships beyond the walls of our clinics and hospitals.

We were inspired by Maureen Bisognano of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and Susan Edgman-Levitan, PA of Massachusetts General Hospital, founders of the “What Matters to You” movement. Their message was simple yet transformative: improving healthcare starts by asking patients what truly matters — not just what’s the matter with them.

Erica Olenski, BCPA, FACHDM, a Board-Certified Patient Advocate, offered a deeply personal look at the journey of families caring for loved ones with chronic and terminal conditions. Her insight: behind every diagnosis is a caregiver carrying invisible weight. Recognizing those “pain points” is part of holistic, patient- and family-centered care.

The session that took everyone by surprise came from Mimi Rabson, Professor at the Berklee College of Music, who drew parallels between healthcare and the performing arts. She spoke about silos, teamwork, risk-taking, and adaptability — then brought her message to life with a violin performance spanning classical to Pink Floyd. Her closing challenge — “Why not?” — captured the spirit of innovation and courage needed in every care setting.

Beyond the presentations, the real magic came from connecting with colleagues across the country who share our mission: to strengthen trust, compassion, and connection in every patient encounter. We returned home energized, equipped with new insights, and eager to collaborate with our teams to translate these lessons into action.

As we reflect on the symposium, we’re reminded of the words of Dr. William Mayo, Founder of the Mayo Clinic:

“The best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered.”

That principle remains our compass — guiding how we design care, communicate with our patients, and support one another as healthcare professionals.

Your Health Team Completes Advanced Peptide Therapy Training

Clinical peptides are quickly becoming a vital tool in personalized medicine, offering new hope for patients across a variety of medical specialties. This month, Your Health team members — Brooke Howard, NP; Melissa Jones, PharmD; and Michael Cascio, MD — participated in the SSRP Peptide Therapy Conference at a two-day training event in Orlando, Florida.

Hosted by the Seeds Scientific Research & Performance Institute (SSRP), the program focused on the safe, evidence-based integration of peptide therapy into clinical practice. Participants reviewed 10 real-world patient profiles, gaining practical insight into peptide dosing, treatment protocols, and pharmaceutical interactions. Brooke Howard, NP shares:

“This training gives us the confidence to bring the power of peptide therapy directly into patient care.
We’re now better equipped to design individualized treatment plans that go beyond traditional medicine.”

Peptide therapy has broad applications across cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, and more, making it a promising option for patients who may not respond well to standard treatments. As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, SSRP’s program also emphasizes the importance of proper sourcing and compliance with FDA guidance.

“We are adamant about working only with trusted compounding pharmacies,” said Howard. “Patient safety is our top priority, and peptides should be sourced with a prescription from a qualified provider.”

The Your Health team reinforced its commitment to staying on the cutting edge of functional and integrative medicine, offering patients access to safe, innovative therapies that support long-term health.

Your Health Wins 2025 Points of Light Award for Advancing Value-Based Care Through Data Collaboration

Your Health has been named a 2025 Points of Light Award winner for its innovative collaboration with Humana and athenahealth to improve value-based care through clinical data sharing and reduced administrative burden.

We’re proud to announce that Your Health has been recognized in the 2025 Points of Light Awards for our innovative role in improving care through data-sharing partnerships. This year’s awards honored leading organizations that are pushing the boundaries of value-based care, and our collaborative work with Humana and athenahealth stood out as a model of what’s possible when technology, trust, and teamwork come together.

These prestigious awards honor payers, providers, and health IT vendors who collaborate to achieve shared outcomes that improve patient care. Each submission is independently reviewed by KLAS Research through in-depth interviews with all partners, ensuring every recognized case reflects genuine, measurable, and collaborative success.

The case study, “Closing Care Gaps & Reducing the Administrative Burden Through Improved Data Sharing,” spotlights how Your Health helped tackle two major healthcare challenges: reaching hard-to-engage patients and easing clinician burnout caused by busted workflows.

The Challenge

Humana faced difficulty caring for members who didn’t regularly visit their primary care physician, leading to higher ER usage and missed opportunities to address care gaps. At the same time, clinicians were spending up to 15 hours a week manually chasing data to meet value-based care requirements, contributing to increased burnout.

The Solution

Through a collaborative initiative with athenahealth, we closed a care and diagnosis gap powered by Da Vinci APIs. This technology automatically flags care and diagnosis gaps and integrates that data directly into our clinicians’ EHR workflow before a patient’s visit. Your Health also established a dedicated quality team to work with both Humana and athenahealth to ensure accurate data interpretation and ongoing program improvements.

The Impact

Since implementing the tool:

  • Clinicians at Your Health now identify 4.8 more care gaps and 4.7 more diagnosis gaps per member, enabling earlier interventions and better patient outcomes.

  • Humana has already closed 35% of its CMS Star gaps, with Your Health playing a key role.

  • Clinicians experience reduced administrative burden by working within one integrated system, improving efficiency and morale.

What’s Next

Our shared goal is to evolve this program to support a whole-patient care model, which includes integrating behavioral health and social determinants of health (SDoH) into the data exchange. Together, we’re building a system that puts the patient—not the paperwork, at the center of care.

This award is not just a win for Your Health—it’s a celebration of what’s possible when providers, payers, and technology partners work together to make healthcare better for everyone.

We’re honored to share this spotlight and excited for what comes next.
